Text Box: Technology Committee
The School of Education will reinvigorate our technology committee. This open group will meet each month to work out details of expenditures, projects and priorities. The IT liaison will be encouraged to attend every meeting and keep an open line of communication with IT.
Text Box: Faculty Project
The SOE wishes to create a drop off process whereby faculty can leave technology related “jobs” for graduate students to fill. This process would be supported by existing staff and future Doctoral students in the CET concentration in Ed Leadership.
Text Box: Wireless Environments
The School of Education hopes that with the advent and support as entirety wireless environment, students will begin to solve some of our technology classroom access and availability challenge by bringing their own machines to class. The SOE technology faculty and graduate students will provide first level support. It is our intent to track the increase and availability across each semester and across course date and time
Text Box: Basic Technology Skills
The SOE will work with IT to offload basic office productivity training previously incorporated into classes to online modules and specific IT college wide training and support events.
Text Box: Enhanced Blackboard Utilization
The SOE faculty will continue to explore the potential for using Blackboard to enhance and enrich course activities.
Text Box: Faculty Classroom Selection Process
The SOE is interested in having the university develop criteria for placing courses in high tech rooms like 307. SOE faculties wish to insure that they will be able to utilize high tech classrooms if they are heavy users and innovators.
Text Box: Upgrade Classroom Technology
The SOE will continue to upgrade the teaching technologies available in each room and for circulation. (LCD, wireless labs, etc.)
Text Box: Video Conferencing
The SOE will be offering an “Academic Common Market” test course through VETA in spring 2006, and hopes to use the Millennium Classroom for this project.
All other video conferencing projects will be coordinated through the IT Liaison, Mark Eaton.
Text Box: Faculty Development
The SOE will continue to offer “Technology Brown Bags”. These faculties development and sharing sessions will be created and led by SOE faculties.  They will focus on effective utilization of technology throughout the SOE.
